Chemical Peels
Chemical Peeling is a cosmetic procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers. The peel solution exfoliates dead skin cells on the skins’ surface to help with congestion and to help healthy skin cells rise to the surface. This procedure rejuvenates the skin, which allows the skin to grow back smoother. Chemical Peels are used to treat superficial wrinkles, fine lines, unwanted pigmentation, mild acne and scarring. A superficial chemical peel removes the outer layer of skin; best for treating fine lines, acne, uneven skin tone, and dehydrated skin. A medium-grade chemical peel removes skin cells from the epidermis and portions from the upper dermis; best for treating wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone. A deep chemical peel removes skin cells from deeper layers of the dermis; may be recommended by your provider for deeper wrinkles, scars, or precancerous growths. Deeper chemical peels offer more-dramatic results but also require more downtime.
